2023 Summer Teaching Interest Form
First-Year Writing will offer a number of summer courses. While most courses will meet in person, a few sections may be offered as distance learning. Please fill out the summer teaching interest form below by 3/10 if you are interested in teaching this summer.
1007 courses may be offered during the following sessions:
ENGL-1007 Alt Session 1 (May 30–July 7)
ENGL-1007 Alt Session 2 (July 10–August 18)

Apply for the 2023 Intro Week Summer Team
First-Year Writing is seeking applicants who have shown a sustained engagement with our program's pedagogical goals and who seek to collaborate with other engaged instructors to support our program as a whole.
Dates of Employment: Applicants must be available for planning meetings beginning in May and regular weekly meetings and collaboration (both in-person and online) beginning in late June and lasting throughout the summer, averaging 10 hours per week. Meetings may be remote (via Zoom) and/or in-person at Storrs. If you’re applying and you know you will be traveling or unable to participate in meetings at some point over the summer, indicate this in your letter so that we can plan the summer schedule accordingly.
Eligibility: Any active instructor of First-Year Writing may apply
How to apply: By Friday, March 10 at 5 PM, submit to the form on our website a one-to-two-page letter of interest that explains your qualifications and articulates how you envision and would shape Intro Week. Your letter should demonstrate familiarity with the program approach, structure, pedagogy, and goals, as well as familiarity with the recent developments in the Intro Week materials and programming.
Those on the Intro Week Summer Team will share work in the following areas:
- Plan and facilitate Intro Week (week of August 21)
- Update and facilitate pedagogy workshop for returning instructors
- Develop support and instructional materials for instructors
- Revise existing support documents and instructional materials for instructors

Program and Curriculum Development Team
First-Year Writing is looking for applicants who will work closely with the First-Year Writing administration on program development projects during Summer 2023. These positions are contingent on securing funding.
